About the Air Medical Operators Association

The Air Medical Operators Association (AMOA) is a non-profit association representing Part 135 Certificate Holders engaged in emergency medical services. AMOA was officially incorporated in February 2009, but many members initially joined in 2000 as the EMS Executive Operators Forum.

In our short history, AMOA has already played a major role in improving aviation safety by encouraging cooperation between regulators and the air medical community; enhancing training, operational control, and safety management systems; and implementing new technologies, such as night vision goggles and helicopter terrain alert warning systems.

United in Safety.

Vision

Zero accidents.

Mission

To ensure safe air medical transportation through a voluntary landmark commitment by the industry to leverage best safety practices, implement available technologies, and follow stringent procedures guiding flight decisions.

Core Values

Unprecedented and Sustainable Safety

As industry leaders, we consider safe air medical transportation our preeminent goal.  We will advance the level of technology, training, and management oversight to unprecedented levels, and remember that safety begins in the day-to-day interaction between crews and aircraft.

Principled Industry Leadership

We will work together as an industry to take ownership of our responsibilities as aviation operators through leadership, advocacy, resources, and accountability. We also promote the continuance of a federal aviation legal and regulatory framework supportive of equal and fair access to air medical services.

Beyond Compliance

We are committed to working with industry organizations, our international partners, and government agencies to establish and participate in voluntary programs to craft viable regulations, operations specifications, and guidance that will ensure safe air medical transportation.
